Dr. Robert Haberkorn, D.D.S., M.B.A.

After graduating with Honors from The University of Missouri-KC School of Dentistry and Baylor University Dental surgical residency program in 1986, Dr. Haberkorn began practicing in his hometown of Topeka, Kansas. He also graduated from the advanced dental learning institute, The Pankey Institute, and brought those skills into private practice. Dr. Haberkorn has incorporated all phases of general dentistry into his practice, including dental implants, Fastbraces, and TMD (temporomandibular joint disorder) treatment.

In 1990, Dr. Haberkorn purchased a dental laser and became an early adopter of laser dentistry techniques. He began utilizing a hard tissue laser, Biolase, and treating restorative needs using a Waterlase. These technologies allow for most fillings to be performed without the need for shots or dental drills. In April of 2017 he received a Masters certificate in laser dentistry from the Academy of Laser Dentistry, allowing him to treat periodontal disease using laser technology and advanced innovative techniques. His expertise has allowed him the ability to instruct other dentists, and made his practice a multiple “Practice of the Year” winner, recognized by his colleagues for outstanding service to patients. He currently services patients at two Southern Edge Dental Center locations in Fairfax and Beaufort, SC.

In addition to earning his dental education, Dr. Haberkorn is a graduate of the Pacific Coast Institute of Facial Esthetics and is a member of The Academy of American Facial Esthetics. He is an experienced professional in facial esthetics, including Botox, Juvederm and Kybella treatments.

Most recently, Dr. Haberkorn has shifted his focus to oral oncology and medicine. He is very passionate about the prevention and treatment of oral cancer, and in 2023 he founded Beaufort Oral Oncology and Medicine and Laser Therapy, (BOOM LT, LLC), a subset of his dental practice dedicated to oral oncology. Dr. Haberkorn is passionate about bringing an advanced level of healthcare to patients in rural areas. Having practiced and served rural communities throughout his career including at SEDC, he started The Association of Rural Dental Practices with the hope of providing resources for patients and dentists in rural communities, inspiring young dentists to practice in rural areas and bridging the healthcare gap in often underserved communities.

Dr. Haberkorn’s 30 plus years of expertise in the area of Family Dentistry allow him to treat each member of every family that becomes a part of Southern Edge Dental Center. He attends many hours of Continuing Education each year and is dedicated to implementing the latest dental technologies and innovations into his practice. He has worked with many dentists to develop their skills as practitioners, and continues to be at the forefront of the dental profession.
